About Richard Solomon, Artists Representative
In 2008 Richard Solomon celebrated his 27th anniversary as an artists representative.
His group of 20 artists have worked for a variety of clients producing over 8,000 assignments. His artists have won 6 Hamilton King Awards, 2 Greenwich Workshop Awards and have collectively received over 80 Gold and Silver Medals from the Society of Illustrators. Five artists have been profiled in Walt Reed’s “The Illustrator in America: 1860-2000,” a comprehensive guide to innovators of American Illustration.
Highlights: Numerous book covers for Random House, Simon & Schuster, Barnes & Noble, Houghton Mifflin, Harper Collins, Random House, and St. Martin’s Press. Over 30 picture books published, including those written by Jerry Seinfeld, John Lithgow, and Madonna. Movie posters for Paramount and Disney. Public art for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of NYC – DeKalb Avenue Station. Painting expeditions for National Geographic Magazine. Various postal stamps for the U.S. Postal Service. Editorial work for TIME, Newsweek, The Atlantic, Business Week, Esquire, Rolling Stone, Discover, Mad Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Reader’s Digest, Road & Track, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post.
Rounding out the commissions are several permanent, fabricated murals and installations for the Federal Reserve, Barnes & Noble, The U.S. Air Force Museum, The Cowboy Hall of Fame, The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Cincinnati Playhouse, The United Nations, The Cincinnati Playhouse, Pho Ha Restaurants, Andersen Windows, The U.K. Royal College of Surgeons, and Mall of Georgia.
His artists have also created corporate identities for Anheiser-Busch, Eddie Bauer, Galileo Research, and Wells Fargo, among others.
Richard and many of his illustrators devote time to teaching or lecturing at universities and schools across the country. His artists exhibit frequently in galleries and museums around the world, and their pieces are housed in numerous permanent collections including those of Ralph Lauren, TIME-LIFE, Oscar de la Renta, Rolling Stone, The Franklin Mint, Hallmark, Motown Records, and the Cincinnati Art Museum.
Additional accolades include two Addy Awards from the Advertising Federation of America, multiple awards from the Societies of Illustrators in Los Angeles and Houston, The Art Directors Club, and the Societies of Publication Design and Newspaper Design. In addition, the artists have been featured in industry publications such as Communication Arts, American Artist, Step-by-Step, HOW, Spectrum Annual, and Graphis.
The Staff
Ana Gomez Bernaus. Ana is the current designer for Richard Solomon Artists Rep. She has worked as a freelancer in Barcelona since 2003, and moved to New York on January 2009. Although she studied to be a graphic designer, and worked in this field for the last 8 years, she is focused on working in the illustration field, which is her ideal profession, hobby and passion.
